Marco Bicego is excited to introduce Materica, a new capsule collection of one-of-a-kind pieces available exclusively on MarcoBicego.com.
Made of landscape jasper, wood opalite and chrysocolla, this collection derives its inspiration and materials from the natural world around us.
Landscape jasper is a material that is formed by sedimentation during a volcanic process or by stratification. Dark and earthy, the landscape name comes from the color and irregular patterns. Wood opalite, also comprised of deep, rich brownish hues, is a type of petrified wood whose formation can date back to the geological eras. Chrysocolla, with its splashes of color from green to deep blue, is found near Peruvian copper deposits and ( fun fact!) was a stone that Cleopatra used in some of her jewelry.
These styles are the latest update to the “Unico” collection which translated into English, means unique. This is fitting given no two pieces from Materica are alike due to the variation in these natural materials, making these treasured pieces.
Marco is proud to incorporate these thousand year old stones into his Unico collection stating, “I have always been attracted by landscapes and endless horizons where the eye can get lost and the mind along with it. These charming stones remind me of an ‘out of scale’ nature- and in their flaws I find nature’s perfection.”
